| Your IPAQ |

|
Does your IPAQ have an annoying personality ?

We have been working with the old IPAQ for 5 years now and customers are using everything from the old 3600 through to the new hx 2700.
Most issues with using IPAQs stem from battery or program factors :
The FIRST rule of engagement is to keep the battery charged - there are 3 methods
- Via 240 plug pack - supplied with IPAQ
- Via Activsync cable - supplied with IPAQ
- Via suitable car charger - supplied with car kit
If you don't have a car charger we can provide one for around $20.00.
Problems can occur due to the running of multiple programs. Handheld PCs are notorious for NOT closing programs down; while you may tap OK in the top right corner the program may still be running.
To check the status of programs follow these steps.
- Tap Windows Start "Top Left" today screen
- Select "Settings" from menu
- Select "System" Tab
- Scroll down and select "Memory"
- Select "Running Programs" tab
- Highlight programs not required - then Stop
After you have done this the IPAQ's performance should improve. If multiple programs are running that require external ports ( eg Bluetooth GPS & Bluetooth Phone )this may cause the unit to lock up.
|
Power Up
The most common problem with the hx2xxx series handheld is the battery going flat, when this happens you lose all the 3rd party programs you have loaded. In addition you lose any files that have not been backed up.
The Fix
Keep the unit charged or at least charge it fully every 2nd day. Also ensure that the stand-by period is set for 96hrs.
You have 3 methods of charging:
- Mains via plug pack supplied - for home
- Via active sync - from office or work computer (USB charge must be enabled)
- Via car charger - if supplied
With the 3 options above the only thing you need to remember is to plug it in to one of the options when not in use.

Back-up Regularly
The key to avoiding disappointment with your IPAQ losing its mind (stored files and programs) is regularly backing up, steps as follows:
- Tap the Start Button
- Select Programs
- Scroll down (right) until you see iPAQ Backup, select it
- Locate the flie button (Look for a box with 3 dots "...")
- Tap on this section, then in the Location: option scroll down to SD Card
- Now select OK,
- Select Backup
- Now select Start
It may take a while depending on how many files and programs you have on the Pocket PC, a progress report will be displayed. When finished select OK, it will then prompt you to restart the device.
IMPORTANT each time you back up you create a new backup file, you don't overwrite the previous file. For this reason your IPAQ can quickly run out of memory, so remember to regularly erase the files you no longer require.

Ipaq locks up
Pocket PC has many advantages however like any computer from time to time they do lock up for no apparent reason.
The main problem is when you close a program the program may disappear from view but still be running in the background.
How to check if programs are still running:
- Select the Start Icon (Top Left)
- Select Settings
- Select System
- Scroll down and select memory)
- Select "Running Programs", Don't be surprised if 8 or 10 programs are running
- Select the program you want to stop or Select Stop All
Note: Sometimes you may not be able to close a program - eg Active Sync; this is because the program is busy, stop the program then try closing it.
If this fails try the reset button underneath the bottom of the Ipaq.
